The lineup for 2015’s Red Bull Music Academy festival was the best yet. Well timed, RBMANYC 2015 returned just as the spring weather emerged. The four-week music fest was packed with live performances, club nights, interviews and other events. Events included appearances by noteworthy newcomers, like experimental pop goddess, FKA Twigs and seasoned musicians such as George Clinton.
The Overall team painted the promotional artwork for the Red Bull Music Academy event. The pieces featured portraits of the participating music artists; breakout rapper A$Ap Rocky and late cellist, Arthur Russell. The massive murals were located in traffic heavy areas in the Lower East Side and Williamsburg. During production, the artists hard at work on the lofty installations summoned the attention of passersby. The paintings served as a backdrop for locals snapping selfies, later to be shared on Instagram. Promotional text was also painted on gates in the East Village and the Lower East Side inviting late-night onlookers to Create, Celebrate and Collaborate.
