AUDIBLE < Back PRIDE & PREJUDICE Overview Service Outdoor Advertising, Content Creation, Special FX industry Entertainment markets Los Angeles, New York Wall(s) 2 Walls impressions 794K+ Flowers. Embroidery. Walls like you’ve never seen before. Audible wanted a memorable way to announce their Pride & Prejudice audiobook, and we helped them bring the story to life on high-traffic walls in Bushwick and Venice . When they asked if it was possible to add real embroidery to the murals, we couldn’t say no. This was the first time our Special FX team incorporated embroidery into our murals, turning each flower into a three-dimensional, hand-crafted piece of art. Bold, out-of-the-box ideas like this are exactly what make people stop, look, and talk about a wall, driving both attention and engagement. We teamed up with a group of incredible artists in Spain to create the final crochet flowers, each packed with detail, durability, and one-of-a-kind charm. Working from printed guides, the artists hand-crafted every bloom teaming up to meet our tight timeline. Once finished, the flowers traveled from Spain to New York and Los Angeles, where they were carefully integrated into our murals, blending embroidery and hand painted techniques in a way that feels entirely new. Of course, a mural this unique needed a story behind it, so our in-house content creation team captured the entire process on video. The footage shows how much work goes into something like this and demonstrates why behind-the-scenes content is so valuable for clients - it lets people experience the mural from the streets to their screens, turning a wall into a social moment. https://vimeo.com/1122900709 And the reaction? Priceless. More than 794K+ pedestrians passed by, but one passerby captured it perfectly: “I just had to write you and tell you I am OBSESSED with your Pride & Prejudice audiobook mural in Bushwick!! … The embroidery touch is GENIUS! It was getting such a crowd this weekend.” This project not only pushed our creative limits, it officially launched a new service in our Paint Lab. It’s proof that when clients dream big and we find a way to make it happen, the result is walls people notice, share, and remember. Previous Next
- Boston Greenway, DANIEL GORDON
Boston Greenway < Back DANIEL GORDON Overview Service Public Art industry Non-Profit markets Boston Wall(s) 1 Wall impressions Once again we find ourselves standing in the historic park, the Rose Kennedy Greenway of downto wn Boston in front of the 70’ x 76’ foot wall facing Dewey Square . Our team of multi-talented painters was tasked with hand painting a beautiful mural designed by New York-based artist Daniel Gordon called “Summer Still Life with Lobster and Fern ”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDfXt5Denck After years of creating this special design for this specific site, Daniel’s artwork was ready for our team to paint on the wall. Daniel was very hands-on during this process. He worked directly with the painters so they could understand his technique, craft and concept for this particular piece to ensure we translated what was in his head to the wall accurately. Gordon’s artwork involves fine tuning imagery that he finds online or from photographs he takes himself. He then prints them out on a large scale printer and creates a physical 3-D scene before using a large format camera to photograph this composition. The results. A contemporary twist on still life. There are references in the mural, like the lobster and watermelon, which were incorporated into the artwork as a tribute to the city of Boston, in which the artwork is displayed. In addition to the mural, the park is hosting a larger exhibition of Gordon’s sculptures and canvases, all of which will be up for one year. Working on a large-scale public art piece like this involves lots of planning. From our production team mixing the colors and delegating sections of the wall to the painters spending long hours translating a 24” inch printed proof to a 70’ foot wall, the entire piece start to finish is a process that keeps our team on their toes until the project is done. But art pieces like this are some of our favorite types of projects we get asked to do. As artists we are proud to work with fellow artists to create a piece that challenges the eye, brings color to a city and is, most importantly, a tribute to the neighborhood in which it lives. Adding that bit of art culture to a city wall brings pleasure to every job we do. This entire artwork took our six experienced walldogs approximately 9 days or 99 hours and a whole lot of paint and sunscreen before it was proudly displayed for all to see. Hope you enjoy looking at it as much as we enjoyed painting it. Previous Next

Whether watching a game in the stadium or gathering with friends and family at home, we all come together to cheer for our favorite teams in hopes that they win. Coca-Cola’s “Real Magic” brand philosophy is based on igniting the mundane into something remarkable through the power of human connection. “The real magic happens when people get together and when what we share in common is greater than what sets us apart.”- Coca-Cola And what better way to bring people together than to have four of our artists working 12 hours a day in the summer heat to bring a photorealistic Coca-Cola mural to life. Hand painting a detailed mural takes collaboration, communication, shared laughs, and quality time to get the job done at the highest quality. And the same goes behind the scenes for our production team who spend time planning everything that goes into creating a seamless painting process for our painters who develop a mural Coca-Cola drinkers of Philly could be proud of!In fact, our painters experienced the Philly community reacting to the mural. - GAP, SHARE YOUR GIFT
GAP < Back SHARE YOUR GIFT Overview Service Outdoor Advertising, Special FX industry Apparel & Accessories markets New York Wall(s) 1 Wall impressions 518K+ This holiday season, Gap strived to stand out against the red and green competition with a more meaningful message, “Share Your Gift”. As opposed to focusing on giving and receiving, Gap chose to highlight the little gifts we can give every day. “Share your gift, is meant to inspire and realize that the holidays are not about material objects, but love, kindness, and optimism.” The use of gold applique on top of the large murals, further enhanced the sentiments of sharing, while also elevating the hand painted medium to a whole new level. The gold leaf was meticulously placed by hand to make the large GAP lettering on four of the ten panels shiny and bright; even visible at night from the Williamsburg Bridge. When applying gold leaf, typically installed indoors, the wind is always a factor. In the breezy winter air, gold specks flew above Overall Murals’ painter's heads and stuck to the wet paint, simulating glittery snowfall. Starting out as simple sketches on the walls, the photorealistic portraits quickly unfolded through the hands of the team’s most skilled artists. The bold GAP imagery and models’ joyous expressions jump from soft-colored backgrounds. The two murals were executed in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, to capture the attention of fashionable and fun passerbys who inhabit and visit the area. Previous Next
- LEXUS, LEXUS IS 2021
LEXUS < Back LEXUS IS 2021 Overview Service Outdoor Advertising, Overall Creative industry Automotive markets New York Wall(s) 2 Walls impressions 930K+ In November, Moxi Events sought us out to spearhead a project to announce the launch of Lexus’ new luxury vehicle, the 2021 Lexus IS . Lexus was looking to break away from traditional automobile campaigns and tap into a new demographic of millennials. And what better way to announce a “thrilling” new campaign than on a 1300 square ft hand painted mural in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn . Lexus was interested in supporting a local artist that would capture the spirit of their new modern design. So, we tapped into our rolodex of quality artists and asked the queen of graffiti, Queen Andrea , to brainstorm on the project. Why Queen Andrea? As a native New Yorker influenced by her environment and raised by artists, Andrea has left her mark (literally) and continues to do so through her use of color, graffiti, graphic design, and typography. Her overall energy toward the project made her a perfect collaborator for the Lexus IS campaign. The result? Lexus received a high-end street art mural that grabbed the attention of passersby (835,680 to be exact) and as an added bonus, a QR code was drawn onto the side of the mural. The QR code is a great tool, especially during the pandemic as it provides viewers with a seamless experience to engage with the brand. In fact, a recent survey done by Beacon Technology found, “18.8% of users in the US and the UK strongly agreed that there was a visible increase in QR code usage {…}.“ Adweek also notes, “41% of consumers are willing to scan QR codes for contactless purchase.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wevHTxuwpZ0 As a result, Lexus’s use of QR codes was a perfect approach to lead every Williamsburg millennial, already attached to their phone, to the Lexus IS page — ‘cause hey, what millennial isn’t attached to their phone? Check out the hand painted graffiti signs and let us know what drives you! BEYOND THE WALL Artwork extended beyond the wall into car wraps, posters, and postcards to show at dealership showrooms. - The New School, INTEGRAL RUEDI BAUR
The New School < Back INTEGRAL RUEDI BAUR Overview Service Commercial Signage industry Education markets New York Wall(s) 1 Wall impressions Overall Murals was selected to produce a large intricate ceiling mural, conceived by master graphic designer, "Intégral Ruedi Baur" at The New School University Center at the corner of 14th Street and 5th Avenue in its downtown campus. The Overall Murals team of artisans painstakingly hand-rendered Mr. Baur's custom lettering, composed of groundbreaking subjects and luminary instructors of historic New School classes. The original balances the university's newly constructed and impressive building, which has been described as "challenging the status quo" and proof of The New School's "commitment to creativity, innovation, and social engagement." Through its curriculum and advocacy of important architectural achievements such as this University Center, the New School upholds its reputation for housing innovative minds. Unlike many traditional colleges, the New School strays from the arbitrary in regard to its curriculum. Instead, this cutting-edge institute allows its students the freedom to choose their own scholastic approach to education. Students are encouraged to "seek an unbiased understanding of the existing order, it's genesis, growth and present working," according to the precedents set by its founders. Interesting programs offered such as "Women and their Money," taught by Dorcas Elizabeth Campbell in 1949, "Games: 101," and "Punk and Noise," are just a few of the hundreds of classes and instructors immortalized on the school's foundation in an array of colors. Mr. Baur’s design is based on the 3D font he created for the New School, based on Peter Bilak’s font, Irma. The font is used throughout the building as a wayfinding system, and as the foundation for the stairwell murals, which are visible from the sidewalks outside of the building. Designed by the New York office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), the University Center was conceived as a sixteen story campus within a building. Vertical, horizontal, and diagonal campus pathways work together to facilitate movement through the building, and increase opportunities for spontaneous interactions. The system of stairways are the principle means of circulation, and a strong focal point both inside and outside the building. Contrary to the perfect, modern black and white interior design and furnishings of the campus, the elaborate typography is as perfectly but imperfectly painted and composed of over 150 hand blended colors. Our artists practiced precise brushstrokes to create the crisp, vibrant typography over the course of several months on one stairway and four floors while standing with their necks craned for ten hours or while laying down on lounge chairs and scaffolding. For comparison, a mural of this size typically requires our team approximately one-week of production. The original design coats three angled stairwells or 4,200 feet. (the Sistine Chapel, by comparison, covers 6,118 square feet.) At the project's completion, we believe these laborious paintings enhanced the importance of their message and imposed on the viewer everything that the New School advocates: fresh perspective.
