Overall Murals, Inc. specializes in large-scale, hand-painted advertising signs and art murals. POSITION SUMMARY:

• 2-year program to develop into a staff painter and well-rounded walldog, with experience in the hand painted advertising industry

• Apprentice painters are the newest generation of walldogs. It’s important to pass along the learnings and tradition of large scale mural making to new artists.

• The position requires talented artists with potential, drive and the desire to learn the art of Mural Painting. 

• The apprentice will demonstrate great desire to advance within the company.

• Those with prior painting (photorealistic and/or sign painting a plus) experience or education

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Start from the bottom to learn everything that goes into the preparation and production of a mural

• Responsible for efficient delivery of exceptional artistry and maintaining safety and aesthetic quality controls, while serving as a positive representative of the company to members of the public

• Painters work in teams of 2-6+, variable hours and days, year-round, and in all weather conditions

• Painting - prepare patterns, color-match & mix paint, produce murals & sign painting, support lead painters with organization and preparation of materials as required on a job.

• Shop and Maintenance - Organize and maintain facilities, inventory of materials and equipment, pack packages and other duties as assigned

• Construction - set up and use of scaffolding, work on ladders, lift objects up to 80lbs, light carpentry, wall/building preparation & maintenance, and use of power tools

• Driving - licensed & operate registered company vehicles as-needed

• Communication - Active on and communicates with team via Slack and phone

• Travel - Travel out of New York City and outside your home state is required

• Other assignments as required / requested

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Painting Portfolio - Art education or examples showing artistic skills

• Physically Fit - able to stand for 4 hrs at a time and safely lift objects up to 80lbs

• Reliable - prompt, responsible, safety-oriented, genuine pride & pleasure in work done well

• Team Player - communicative, sturdy, and naturally inclined to support your teammates

• Flexible - willing to work a variety of days/hours, under tight deadlines/short notice

• Fearless - mural painting often requires working on a lift or scaffold, at great heights

• Lastly, painters are expected to be able to think on their feet, meet tight deadlines, work around any issues, are open to critical feedback and are proactive

• Valid Driving License - and ability to operate company vehicles
   

Additional Desired Qualifications:

• Technologically proficient - Should have possession of a smartphone. Any Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop abilities are a plus

​TERMS & COMPENSATION:

• 90 day freelance trial to hire

• Full-Time / Hourly / 7 days a week, early mornings, nights and weekends. All hours based on project requirements.

• Hourly pay: $23-$25

• Scheduled reviews and raises based on performance

• Professional, creative, family-style environment in a mission-critical growth role

• Not Exempt: Overtime after 40 hours

• Health/dental/vision insurance eligible after 90 days full-time
