BRIEF
Ahead of the debut of the upcoming psychological thriller Clayface, Warner Bros. aimed to translate the story’s core directly onto the street. They wanted to illustrate the character's unsettling, shape-shifting transformation, a terrifying collapse of mind and physical form, through a visually commanding mural designed to make passersby stop in their tracks.
BUILD
To achieve the striking anamorphic effect, Overall Murals’ Special FX team took over our prominent Bushwick wallscape. Hand painting extended past the traditional frame onto the exposed brick, while meticulously crafted faux brickwork amplified the character's dissolving, grotesque transformation.
REVEAL
In one of Brooklyn's trendiest art scenes, this mural draws travelers and locals alike with its creativity and scale. The Special FX anamorphic technique captures the character’s eerie erosion and sparks instant intrigue, while launching ahead of Halloween sets the perfect ominous tone for the film’s release.
IMPACT
Generating over 200K local impressions throughout its run, the artwork captivated onlookers who paused to inspect the striking visual trickery. Though it appeared to be an elaborate physical extension, the dissolving jawline was entirely hand painted to create a seamless anamorphic distortion. Pedestrians eagerly photographed the illusion, sparking widespread curiosity and sending folks straight to the box office.
