  • Car2Go, BROOKLYN

Car2Go < Back BROOKLYN Overview Service Outdoor Advertising industry Automotive markets New York Wall(s) 2 Walls impressions 152K+ In New York City, there is more than one way to get around. Naturally, New York is considered one of the greatest walking meccas in the world. The majority of pedestrians are generally known to tread on foot or endure the headache of public transportation. If you're lucky, you own your own car. However, if you're not so lucky, the expanding point-to-point car-sharing service, Cars2Go provides mobility to locals for a practical price. What sets this up-and-coming German subsidiary apart from notable adversaries, much like ZipCar or Enterprise, is their convenient park-anywhere policy. Most rental companies require users to return the rented vehicle to the lot, while Car2Go grants you the luxury of finding and parking literally anywhere after you're through. Providing an exceptional mobile app, equipped with location services and reservation software, all administered through Google Maps. Members are able to share and find any available compact Smart Car across 52 square miles of the city. Geared towards fast-paced New Yorkers who thrive on spontaneity, this doesn't sound like such a bad deal. As of October 2014, Car2Go services launched in New York City, exclusively in Brooklyn, and Overall Murals rolled out the welcome wagon. Individual hand-painted murals were placed in heavily populated neighborhoods in Brooklyn such as Downtown, Red Hook, and Williamsburg. Incorporating the company's crisp white and saturated blue color; these infographics mimic the subway map with overlapping symbols of Brooklyn like the Brooklyn Bridge, a pigeon, hot dogs, basketball, and more were virtually impossible to miss. The walls announced Car2Go's arrival into the borough, and the company's success has been evident as its territory in Brooklyn and NYC continuously expands. Previous Next

  • Sephora, MEATPACKING DISTRICT

Sephora < Back MEATPACKING DISTRICT Overview Service Commercial Signage industry Beauty markets New York Wall(s) 1 Wall impressions Sephora, an international cosmetic chain and division of LVMH enlisted Overall Murals to apply a little make-up to a forthcoming edition of their store in NYC's Meatpacking District. The store's flame icon was converted into an art piece with a minimalistic structure composed of a 1 1/2-inch square, which was carefully but randomly positioned throughout. Made up of only two colors, black and white, an optical mixing effect was achieved. Hand painting each of these glossy white squares on the uneven matte black surface of the brick was a repetitive process. However, this process and the final product became a melding of the traditional craft of sign painting with the sort of techy 8-bit or mosaic-style artwork. Our painters worked through summer thunderstorms, adjacent to old-school meat packers, above photo shoots of models, and below swimmers on nearby rooftop pools. The building itself is a landmark property, making the mural's approval process about four months. Of Sephora's 750-plus stores, this is the brand's first and only mural. Previous Next

  • Cole Haan, #DONTGOTHOME

Cole Haan < Back #DONTGOTHOME Overview Service Outdoor Advertising, Special FX industry Apparel & Accessories markets New York Wall(s) 23 Sites impressions On 23 sites and in less than 2 weeks, across Manhattan and Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Overall Murals hand painted various messages for part of the Cole Haan Shoes #DontGoHome campaign. These messages gave convincing reasons as to why a New Yorker should not be turning in early and to make the most of their night. "You didn't move to NYC to stay in '' or "You can sleep when you're dead" were just a couple among the many different words of advice. Most of the artwork had to be hand painted after sunset and up until sunrise, coinciding with New York's crazy nightlife, (which we learned doesn't take a break, not even for a Tuesday). Our painters really did feel like they weren't going to be going home and made a lot of new friends in the process. The colors used are the brightest fluorescent day glow colors we could find and were applied onto storefront gates with uneven surfaces. These gates are fit for nightlife targeting because they are down only in the evening. The messages are further illuminated by a large black light to really capture attention. To us, each gate looked like its own small club. While the murals were up, between September to October, the outdoor campaign successfully crossed into the digital realm. For example, the #DontGoHome hashtag was tagged in over 3k Instagram photos and 3k tweets (not including unrelated mural campaign results). Additionally, it's accredited with helping to generate over 100K new Facebook likes for the brand's page. Previous Next

  • VISIT SEATTLE, I KNOW A PLACE

VISIT SEATTLE < Back I KNOW A PLACE Overview Service Outdoor Advertising industry Travel markets Los Angeles Wall(s) 2 Walls impressions 1.7M+ Bringing the vibrant spirit of Seattle to the eclectic streets of Venice Beach – that was the challenge ODN presented to us for Visit Seattle’s 'I Know a Place' campaign. And with two perfectly placed walls, we were ready to bring it to life. Our first mural, an eye-catching depiction of Seattle's iconic skyline, dominates our high-traffic wallscape on Ocean Front Walk (LA-27). This prime location is a client favorite because passersby can't miss it. It's the perfect spot for beachgoers to look up and discover a skyline that's a world away from Venice Beach —a reminder of all the different experiences Seattle has to offer. A short stroll from bustling Ocean Front Walk, tucked among Windward Avenue's art galleries and cafes, you'll discover our second mural on LA-08. This street-level creation features a playful orca, a symbol of the Pacific Northwest, swimming in a sea of Seattle icons – a guitar, majestic mountains, a bicycle, and more. The mural is wrapped in a "Come As You Are" message, reflecting the city's inclusive and welcoming spirit. Our hand painted murals were the ideal medium for this tourism campaign. First, they echo the energy of Seattle's thriving art scene (there are 50 new murals in downtown Seattle!), and Visit Seattle is actively promoting the city's commitment to supporting local artists. Second, Visit Seattle's mission is to showcase the city's authentic charm, and what better way to do that than with authentic hand painted art? This campaign shows we can deliver any style, from bold and graphic to intricate and detailed. We brought the same level of passion and precision to both. The result? Two murals that capture the spirit of Seattle and inspire visitors to explore a new destination. Ultimately, that's what it's all about: creating art that connects, inspires, and invites discovery. • Ray-Ban, CHANGE COLLECTION

Ray-Ban < Back CHANGE COLLECTION Overview Service Outdoor Advertising industry Apparel & Accessories markets New York Wall(s) 1 Wall impressions 740K+ https://vimeo.com/1015768454 We're back in Williamsburg , adding another vibrant mural to the neighborhood. This time, we've partnered with Ray-Ban and Publicis Media to showcase the revolutionary Change Collection . We love creating eye-catching, unique murals, and when Ray-Ban approached us with this project, we knew we had to bring our A-game. These aren't your ordinary Wayfarers—we're talking high-tech frames that react to light, revealing a mesmerizing array of hidden colors and patterns. We aimed to capture that innovation and bring it to life on a massive scale. Ray-Ban chose one of our favorite walls in Williamsburg for this project—a double-wall duo that clients absolutely love. It's the perfect canvas for creating something truly special and memorable. And this location isn't just great because of the wall itself; it's right in the heart of one of Brooklyn's most vibrant neighborhoods. Situated on Kent Avenue by Domino Park, it's surrounded by tons of activity. People are constantly strolling along the waterfront, enjoying the green space and views of the city, exploring the trendy shops and restaurants, and checking out the exciting art scene. It's the perfect place to capture the attention of a diverse and engaged audience. To make this project even more unique, we decided to revisit a challenge we tackled back in 2017 with a lenticular mural for Ben & Jerry's . It had been so long that we essentially had to start from scratch, but we love a good challenge! Creating this lenticular mural was a multi-stage process that required careful planning and execution. First, we collaborated closely with Ray-Ban to understand their vision for the Change Collection and how we could best represent it through the mural. We then meticulously mapped out the dimensions and placement of each 3D panel to achieve the perfect illusion, taking into account the viewing angles and the flow of pedestrian traffic. Next, our incredibly talented muralists got to work, hand painting each panel with amazing precision and artistry. They carefully blended colors, created subtle gradients, and captured the intricate details of the Wayfarer frames, ensuring that the mural would be as dynamic and captivating as the sunglasses themselves. This was no easy feat, as they also had to ensure the images aligned perfectly when the panels were assembled, creating a seamless visual flow. Even after the panels were installed, our team returned to touch up the seams and ensure a flawless finish. The final result? A technical masterpiece that's as innovative and eye-catching as the Ray-Ban Change Collection itself. As people walk by, the mural comes alive. From one angle, it's all classic Wayfarer cool, but then a shift in perspective, and the frames explode with vibrant colors and patterns, just like the sunglasses do in sunlight. It's a mesmerizing blend of art and technology, with every brushstroke and panel playing a part in creating this captivating illusion. This mural truly embodies Ray-Ban's spirit of innovation, and we're incredibly proud to have brought it to life. This collaboration with Ray-Ban has been a fantastic journey, and we're thrilled to have contributed to bringing their vision to life. Previous Next

  • PUMA, FLUTUR

PUMA < Back FLUTUR Overview Service Outdoor Advertising, Special FX industry Apparel & Accessories markets New York Wall(s) 1 Wall impressions 457K+ Every cool glow-up deserves a standing ovation. That’s why we are so excited about our latest mural featuring PUMA x Dua Lipa where the paint glows up the queen of dark pop and her mini collection, Flutur. Flutur is Puma’s latest partnership with Dua Lipa as she collaborated on a 90’s inspired sportswear line with a butterfly theme. The butterfly is important to Dua Lipa because it represents metamorphosis and self-expression. Her collection, Flutur (the Albanian word for butterfly), is a celebration of the butterfly and Dua’s Albanian heritage. Our hand painted mural builds on the butterfly metamorphosis motif, delivering a dual night and day presentation. As butterflies evolve from homely caterpillars to beautiful butterflies, so does our hand painted mural. By day the mural presents as a statement piece. Strong. Solid. Pow. As the night unfolds, it transforms into a powerful celebration of color and self-expressions achievable through hand paint. Overall’s in-house paint team worked with Puma to bring that butterfly and Dua Lipa’s collection to life, highlighting key areas in the campaign with fluorescent paint to emphasize the artwork’s glow. The result is a fresh, bright presentation that enhances Puma and Dua’s message with vibrant, inspirational colors. These colors appear intense in the daylight but in the dark, under a black light turn any hand painted mural into a high-impact traffic-stopping presentation. Previous Next

  • Paul Smith, SIGNATURE STRIPE

Paul Smith < Back SIGNATURE STRIPE Overview Service Commercial Signage, Overall Creative industry Apparel & Accessories markets Los Angeles Wall(s) 1 Wall impressions 129M + The time has come for Los Angeles's most Instagrammable spot to peel back its bright pink layer and reveal its Paul Smith Signature Stripe. The famous Pink Wall on Melrose gets a makeover! This change c omes as a huge surprise for the daily influencers and tourists who visit the “instafamous” Paul Smith Melrose Avenue shop for its well-known bright pink backdrop that has ignited a #pinkwall hashtag all over Instagram. Now, the landmark on Melrose Avenue has a new look with a design made in-house by our out-of-the-box (literally) thinking Overall Creative team. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4M9GT-mWxCk The Paul Smith creative team based in London, approached Overall Creative with an idea to design a special mural and transform this famous corner. The design will celebrate the brand's iconic motif. They wanted a trompe l'oeil -like mural that appeared as if the hot-pink exterior of the storefront was being ripped away to reveal Paul Smith’s inner Signature Stripe. How did we achieve this effect? We were resourceful in our pursuit of the perfect, choosing a box we use to ship gifts to our clients as a small Paul Smith Store model (Is this a store for ants!?). We sourced the brightest pink paper we could find from our local art store Blick, to recreate the iconic pink wall. We gently sprayed both sides of the box with adhesive, attached the pink construction paper to its exterior, and began to tear and peel. After only one try, we found the effect to be a great representation of Paul Smith’s original design request. The results can be seen below: Yes, we could have spent time researching a great peel and tear stock effect on the internet or manipulating a shadow in photoshop, but our team wanted to present Paul Smith with a design that reflected the real deal - The shadow from the peel was sourced by New York City's finest sunlight hitting the pink paper. And the real paper tear was created by our nimble fingers gently pulling back the pink paper for an authentic tear effect. For the next seven days, our paint team hand painted the design, and every bit of detail as our Content Creation team captured the whole process from start to finish. Once Paul Smith approved our design, our Overall production team launched a full-court press, sourcing 15 gallons of paint we custom-mixed by eye to match the 40 different colors that makeup Paul Smith’s signature stripes. We used two types of paint, including water-based paint with a flat sheet (including the “Pink Ladies” wall color) to hand paint the pictorial effects of the shattered wall. The second paint was our go-to, glossy oil-based enamel to create a vibrant hand done super straight line work. The juxtaposition of the two different mediums is rather dynamic. The contrast of the two textures gives the effect of the signature pink shedding its skin to reveal a glossy and fresh new layer of Paul Smith’s Signature Stripes. This is a first for Overall Murals to use this technique of using two types of based paint and after seeing the results, it won't be our last. “It was insane seeing how many people photographed and took videos of our painters revealing a new wall design. In no time our painters will be #instafamous too!” comments OM Senior Producer Hayden, as he watched passersby’s response to the design change. The mural has been photographed with Actors Matt Rogers , Mason Gooding and, Sam Richardson , danced in front of, and slowly revealed each day by Instagrammers killagramz3xl, and TikTokers @notbfiner , all of whom excitedly anticipated the ultimate BIG REVEAL.
