These were not your typical murals; they featured 3D props with larger-than-life “chunks of pop tart" and "jam" to resemble a pop tart breaking apart and oozing sweet, red, sticky, and delicious goo onto the street below. The Pop Tart itself appeared to leap off the wall, thanks to a trompe l’oeil effect achieved by painting the surrounding wall back to brick, making the Pop Tart truly stand out. It’s a tempting sight as if you could almost reach out and grab a piece of that pastry goodness! The combination of the trompe l'oeil mural and the 3D build-out, installed by Midnight Oil (and the Overall Murals team at our Brooklyn location) , strategically leveraged the Pop-Tart brand's nostalgic allure to spark conversations and increase viewership for the film's release on May 3rd. "Unfrosted" is a comedic gem that promises to delight audiences with its whimsical take on the invention of the beloved breakfast treat, the Pop-Tart. The film features a star-studded cast of comedians, including Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, and Amy Schumer. It brings to life Seinfeld's stand-up riff on the joyous memories associated with Pop-Tarts. Set against the backdrop of the 1960s, a period marked by suburban idylls and the Cold War era, "Unfrosted" transports viewers on a nostalgic journey filled with laughter and heartwarming moments. With its blend of humor, nostalgia, and star power, "Unfrosted" promises a delightful cinematic experience that will leave audiences craving laughs and a delicious pastry. The murals generate significant attention, amassing 1,119,652+ impressions across our high-impact Hollywood, Los Angeles , and Bushwick, Brooklyn wallscapes. This strategic placement maximizes visibility and facilitates organic sharing on social media platforms, amplifying the campaign's reach and highlighting the effectiveness of innovative marketing strategies in generating excitement and anticipation for the film’s release.     Mother < Back NEW YORK OFFICE Overview Service Commercial industry Advertising markets New York Wall(s) 2 Walls impressions N/A Mother, a fiercely independent creative agency, has always thrived on doing things differently. Founded in London in 1996 by a group of innovative, free-thinking individuals, Mother has grown from a small gathering around a kitchen table to a global network of over 500 like-minded creatives. When Mother announced opening a new office in Gowanus, they knew they wanted something unique to reflect their unconventional approach. That's where we came in. Mother approached us to hand paint a sign that reads 'Mother around the block' and two large '77' figures on the exterior of their new office. The challenge was to make these figures look like photorealistic drilled numbers, a concept typically found on industrial doors. We were excited to collaborate with our creative Brooklyn neighbor and bring their vision to life with precision and attention to detail. We examined the designs to understand the detailed shading, depth, and texture required to achieve the desired look and anamorphic effect for the ‘77' figures. This required careful layering of colors, shadows, and highlights. We worked closely with Mother's team to ensure that the final results for the 'Mother around the block' and two large '77' figures aligned with their vision and maintained the photorealistic appearance they were looking for. This project was a perfect example of how we enjoy helping our neighbors by providing commercial work that adds value to their businesses. Working with Mother allowed us to contribute to their office aesthetic and collaborate with a company (and client) that shares a passion for hand paint. Previous Next

    Boston Greenway < Back SHINIQUE SMITH Overview Service Public Art industry Art & Culture markets Boston Wall(s) 1 Wall impressions ​ The 3rd annual Rose Kennedy Greenway Mural in Boston's Dewey Square Park is a result of a collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts and contemporary fine artist, Shinique Smith who is simultaneously exhibiting at the MFA Overall Murals was selected to bring the artist's original four-foot tall art pieceSeven Moons to life and blow it up to approximately 80 feet tall as the newly titled and redesigned as Shinique Smith's Seven Moon Junction. Utilizing our favorite oils was very different from the original painting's multimedia materials. We turned what wer actual 3-d objects, a coffee lid and braided fabric, into illusions of photorealistic gigantic objects. The last two previous murals on the wall were controversial -- either liked or talked about. Passersby approved of the bright abstract backdrop of what is Boston's busiest commercial district. Shinique Smith puts it best when she described the choice of artwork and transition to the grand scale, in her artist statement: Seven Moon Junction, I have used a detail from my 2013 painting ‘Seven Moons,’ because its circular composition and color palette and the geometry of the building felt as if they belonged together. I shifted the scale of the painting’s collage and counterbalanced them with a braided sculptural element to enrich the texture and create a composition tailored to the architecture of the Dewey Square wall. This particular work draws inspiration from various sources such as, alchemy, astrology, music and the mythology and art of indigenous cultures. By taking a small aspect of this existing work and enlarging it to the scale of 70 feet, this microcosm of materials is seen and experienced from a new perspective, becoming a distinct new presentation. I see this piece, as a mural that extends beyond the wall, as it attunes to the space in which it sits, radiating energy outward to the rest of the city and its occupants. Inspired by the flow of the environment, I will orchestrate a performance of music, art and dance on the green space that is an extension of the mural inspired by the spirals and color in the design. I’ve titled this work, Seven Moon Junction in reference to the intersection where the mural resides, the merging of people and the joining of art and life. The field of view, Dewey Square Park is part of the mural. Previous Next

Intel understands that there’s a significant shift towards hybrid work. As people pivot into their new on-the-go lifestyles, there's a demand for a laptop that supports their needs and Intel wants to target those individuals. But, they couldn’t do this alone. Intel approached OM Art Studio with the task of designing and painting three murals located in three major cities, Los Angeles , New York City , and San Francisco . Their request - a mural design that makes passersby associate the brand as the ultimate laptop experience that has all the qualities: thin and lightweight, wifi 6e/connectivity, and long-lasting battery life to support the mobile/on-the-go experience. At OM Art Studio, we take pride in our network of artists whom we work with closely to identify a client's pain points and achieve a design that communicates their messaging in a beautiful and unique way. There was no doubt that chosen artists Jessica Goldsmith, Dayne Henry Jr., and Nigel Sussman could translate Intel’s messaging into the perfect design. Not only is each artist living in and inspired by the city in which the final mural will be painted, but they too are a part of the target audience for Intel Evo’s brand messaging. Our in-house content creation team took the messaging one step further with a Primo Video Package featuring our three artists and the final murals’ production process. The video touches on each artist, the location they reside in, their design process, and the impact of working on the go with the Intel Evo laptop.   • Hendrick's Gin, WINTER

Revered for its unique flavor, Hendrick's distilled gin has managed to make quite the name for itself. Concocted by the Grant family in 1999, Hendrick's Gin is identified by its unprecedented rose and cucumber notes and apothecary-styled bottle. Gin is not too popular in the markets in comparison to vodka or rum, as its distinct taste, incorporated with juniper berries, doesn't resonate with every palate. However, Hendrick's artistic and original approach has aided in engaging a new demographic intrigued by the bizarre. Noted not only for its premium liquor but its offbeat style of advertisements. The creative designs warrant a feeling of eccentricity. Images of a rather magical, antiquated world composed of obscure colors and various hatching techniques pique your curiosity and lure you in. Amid the final months of 2014, Overall Murals was approached to replicate Hendrick's campaign out of oil paint. Set on the busy corner of Bedford and Manhattan Avenue, near the end of summer, the team managed to erect a painting consisting of sharp colors and definitive line shading. Our talented painters also worked through the brisk November weather to produce a second intricate piece stationed on Kent Ave. along the waterfront. These impressive pieces first garnered attention from inquisitive locals for their detail, whimsical scenes and artistic sensibility but perhaps they also incited enough of the passersby interest to find out more about the curious concoction. The most recent campaign expands on the 2015 ads, How New York Eats. Continuing to tap into the fears of New Yorkers everywhere, the food delivery service understands the horror of ordering food on the phone and avoiding Time Square like the plague. The 2016 campaign is all about Brooklyn and the unique subculture that is loved by so many. Although Seamless may have broken the unspoken Brooklyn rule of never mentioning the L train shutting down, with the quote "The L train may shut down. We won't." We'll forgive them for keeping starving artists, not so starving, stating "Go from staving artist, to just artist." The Overall Murals team collaborated with Seamless for a five-panelmural, with detailed hand-painted type derived from classic New York City restaurant typography atop extensive distress treatment done by the OM team. This vibrant mural of yellow, blue and red matches Seamless' iconic brand and can be found amongst the hipsters of Williamsburg on the corner of 14th Street and Franklin St. Go see for yourself and continue to celebrate the small wins, like paying rent on time and avoiding human contact, with Seamless . Highlighting Jameson IPA and Stout Edition whiskeys, Overall Murals proudly painted this illustration created by Down the Street on over 250 square feet near the iconic Venice Sign. Aiming to capture the warmth and energy of the neighborhood, the mural included a diverse mix of people going about their daily Venice activities. These hand painted characters can be shown cycling, weightlifting, skateboarding, surfing, playing hoops, and dog walking, before transitioning to crafting some silky Jameson cocktails, listening to music, and star gazing. Now in 2020, the brand wanted to give back to culture with this campaign – with no tagline, no headline, no typical “look, here’s a bottle of our booze brand”. Little Five Points, a vibrant artsy community in Atlanta was the perfect spot to create this bold neon three-panel visual art mural. Overall Murals majestically hand painted each unique “one-of-a-kind” panel, each designed by up-and-coming local artists. Previous Next

  • Doritos, SOLID BLACK

    Doritos < Back SOLID BLACK Overview Service OM Art Studio, Outdoor Advertising industry CPG markets Atlanta, Chicago Wall(s) 2 Walls impressions 533K+ Doritos is using its platform to elevate Black voices in the fight against racial injustice with its latest campaign ‘Solid Black’. The initiative includes a handful of murals across the country in areas that are symbolic of the movement. We had the privilege of transforming three of our walls located in New York , Chicago , and Atlanta into inspiring murals. Our in-house Art Studio team enlisted two well-known artists in the Black creative community from Atlanta and Chicago who took on designing the murals with the intention of subverting the narrative and highlighting Black joy, instead of trauma. In the West Loop of Chicago, artist Joe Cujo designed the mural with a message focused on supporting each other and working together through the complicated issues that we all face. He notes, “Together we ALL have the strength to live a free and colorful life”. Joe is an accomplished fine artist and graphic designer with exploits and achievements both locally and abroad.​ In New York City, Doritos sought artist Megan Lewis to design a mural for our Harlem wall unit. The design focuses primarily on figurative imagery that has become her staple aesthetic as it has allowed her to express frustrations or prideful moments in Black Culture through the lens of an evolving Black woman. The design included a Snapcode hand painted onto the mural allowing passersby to interact with the mural by bringing the elements of the artwork to life. All three mural activations were designed by Black changemakers who inspire their communities and change the lives of those around them. We are proud to have participated in using our services to collaborate with Joe and Quake to deliver a design that can evoke change and inspire the cities the murals live in. Our in-house Art Studio team enlisted two well-known artists in the Black creative community from Atlanta and Chicago who took on designing the murals with the intention of subverting the narrative and highlighting Black joy, instead of trauma. ​ We had the privilege of working with native Atlanta artist Quake who designed a piece that pays homage to the nostalgic Atlanta of the artist’s childhood. The artwork features a woman (fun fact: it’s his wife) holding up the famous symbol “Peace up, A-Town down” a slogan made popular by Atlanta-based artists, Usher & Lil John. Quake wanted to keep the true soul of Atlanta intact as the city has progressed over time.​ Within his work, Quake’s main goal was to develop art that invokes unexpected feelings from within the viewer and his artistic expression stems from the gritty, yet sensual nature of life pertaining to societal issues and current events. Where do you go to feel alive? And as stated on the murals OM painted, Where do you go to let go? Lululemon is best known for creating the wear activewear anywhere and everywhere trend. However, Lululemon is now taking its brand in a different direction, more focused on self-improvement. Do you go for a hike in mountains? Do you escape during a morning run or while staring up at the stars? Whatever it may be, Lulu wants us to find a connection to nature and embrace it. #TheAirOutThere has caused thousands of wonders to embark on new adventures and find the richness of the great outdoors. Nationwide, Lululemon stores incorporate some sort of sign painting or mural into their interior design. A hand painted mural campaign made sense for the brand's foray into out-of-home advertising. Overall Murals painted two murals of varying scenic landscapes in Cow Hollow, San Francisco, and in the famous Venice, California. Each location was selected as a way to capture the attention of out-and-about, active people. A timelapse taken by Lululemon of the painting in action in San Francisco was posted to Lululemon's Instagram , generating much fan love and praise. Previous Next
